Program Note for this upcoming Thursday, May 19th at the Nashville Amateur Radio Club monthly meeting:

Jeff Pryor KC8NNO will present “A Comparison of Amateur Radio Digital Voice Systems”.  The focus will be on Digital Voice modes in use in VHF/UHF ham radio communications (P25, D-STAR, DMR, NXDN, System Fusion). Discussion topics will include a Digital Voice overview and technical comparison of the different modes, as well as a summary of operational features, programmability and radio choices.  Digital Voice networks will also be covered, and how the various modes are working together and continue to evolve, as well as a summary of Digital Voice repeaters active in Middle Tennessee.  The presentation will also include equipment demonstrations as well as conclude with a question and answer session.

This is a reminder of the Nashville Amateur Radio Club information net on Monday evening, 7:30 pm, 147.015 Mhz repeater.  Also, remember the club breakfast at 8:00 amon Saturday, February 6 at Ryan’s Restaurant, 2151 Gallatin Pike N, Madison, TN 37115 in the Rivergate area.


Other Nets of Interest

ARES net is on each Monday at 7pm. It is on 442.750 T 100 with a backup of 146.67;

M-TEARS is on Monday at 8:00 pm. It is on 443.725 T 107.2 or any M-TEARS repeater (;

The Bible net on weekdays, 6 am Monday thru Friday, on 147.015.

The Nashville / Davidson County Traffic net on Sundays at 9:00 p.m. on 146.67.

The MTEARS net in at 8:00 p.m. on Mondays on 442.800 (tone 107.2).

The Short Mountain Repeater has 3 nets during the week. All of the nets are on 146.910: – The Old Codgers’ Net – 8:00 p.m. Mondays – A net just for fun; the purpose of this net is share absolutely, completely useless information. – Info Net – 8:00 p.m. Tuesdays – Traders Net – 8:00 p.m. Thursdays

The Robertson County Amateur Radio Club has a information net on Tuesday at approximately 7:20 pm on the 147.345 repeater which follows the Robertson Co. / Cheatham Co. ARES net at 7pm

The Rutherford County Heart of Tennessee ARES / Skywarn net on Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m. local time; the frequency is 145.230 (114.8 tone) / 145.370 (no tone) (linked).

The Sumner ARES Net on Tuesday evenings at 7:30 p.m. Repeaters 145.390 & 147.240MHz tone 114.8 and 443.300, 444.000, & 444.350MHz tone 107.2.

April 2015 Monthly Meeting Minutes

6:05 P.M. – Opening Call to Order by Jerry Hedgcoth/KE4ETY President, Nashville Amateur Radio

Club April Monthly Meeting. 61 members and guests in attendance.

Minutes were taken by Libby Lester/K4HER, Secretary.

A motion to approve the Minutes of the March 2015 meeting was given by Martha

Fredrick/KJ4RIQ and seconded by George Jackson/KC4MTU.

No finance report.

Paul Stinson officiated the 2015 oath of office for Larry Franklin/KC4ZOA, Treasurer.

Jerry Hedgcoth announced that April 16th is the last day to get orders in for Field Day Shirts.

Jerry asked for volunteers to sign up for upcoming events. The events are:

June 13th – Big Hill Challenge

June 27 & 28 – AARL Field Day

Jerry introduced Angie Lese, Science & Operation Officer for the Nashville National Weather

Service who provided a training session on 2015 SKYWARNTM Spotter Training. The course
